Lookeen GmbH is an owner-managed and independent company based in Karlsruhe, Germany. For over 20 years, Lookeen has established itself as a leading solution in the field of full-text search. Our software is used by more than 5 million users in over 100 countries and across a variety of industries.
Our goal is to set new standards in full-text search – in terms of completeness, accuracy, and speed. Lookeen provides a user-friendly search interface that can be implemented with minimal installation effort. After two decades of continuous innovation, we have completely redeveloped our search engine to function reliably in any system environment, combining the performance of a leading enterprise search solution with the simplicity of a desktop application.

CEO
Martin Welker holds a degree in computer science from the University of Karlsruhe and brings extensive experience from the technology hubs of Silicon Valley and San Francisco. As CEO, he shapes the strategic direction of Lookeen and has been instrumental in establishing the company’s global presence, with over 50,000 customers across more than 150 countries, including numerous Forbes 500 companies.
Beyond his executive role, Martin Welker is a recognized expert in search technology with a strong track record in software development. His technical expertise and thought leadership have earned him international recognition in the technology sector.
Alexander Kainz
CTO
Alexander Kainz holds a degree in computer science from the University of Applied Sciences in Regensburg and has built his expertise across international technology markets and the financial services sector. His professional background includes consulting for major banking institutions, where he deepened his knowledge in complex IT infrastructures.
As CTO since 2021, Alexander Kainz drives the technological evolution of Lookeen, with a focus on architectural innovation and the continuous advancement of the company’s core technology platform.
