The shared index approach centralizes the indexing of shared Outlook and network data within the company. The advantages include reduced load and traffic on Exchange Servers and networks, decreased processor and memory usage on user machines, and saving valuable work time. This is done conveniently by passing the index path: individual users can now simultaneously search personal and external index sources.
